ArtistOwned is committed to sharing great independent music. And we believe that each of us can benefit from guidance, or having someone "pull our coats" and show us what is happening in different genres of music. As ArtistOwned grows, we will have experts in each genre contribute their ideas, through essays and reviews, and guide us through the maze of what is happening. We’ll learn both about the music that AO is lucky enough to share with you, and even about other developments in that area of music.
For instance, our first "Expert" is Marty Khan, former manager of The Art Ensemble of Chicago and The World Saxophone Quartet, and noted jazz reviewer. He has already posted a three part essay on John Coltrane, one on Betty Carter and one on Philly’s Bill Barron. Look for much more from Marty – always interesting, always provocative.
